Description

When I'm asked how I decide what to paint, I always say that I simply look around. All day long whether I'm walking or driving, I try to be conscious of the beauty that is literally everywhere. This painting is a good example of that. I was just walking down the street in lovely Chestertown, Maryland when I walked right into this painting. The strong light, the great textural contrast between the bricks and the flag, the strong verticals, the powerful shadows, the beauty of the architecture and the power of the sentiment expressed all make for a very nice painting. I like it a lot!
